A few years ago I went to see a psychologist to help with my anxiety, and she asked me to think of my happy and safe place. Immediately I thought of this one beautiful and peaceful place. This magical location has the most amazing view and so much character. I am so fortunate to be able to escape from the City to somewhere peaceful and quiet and most importantly be surrounded by my loving family.
My secret place is my Grandparents house in Cornwall where I try to go as much as possible. It is about a 4 hour drive so it’s not somewhere you can just pop into, but I am so lucky to have such a beautiful weekend escape where I am always welcome.
I love doing yoga and meditation in the garden, the view is just incredible and puts you in such a peaceful mindset. It is always so quiet and the birds sing so loud it is truly magical.
So I decided to go down for the bank holiday weekend, so we woke up at 4:30am to set off for the long drive ahead. We love to take the scenic routes so it took us about 5 hours after stopping a few times to let my dog Hugo out for a pee.
Once you get to Cornwall the air is so fresh and makes you so sleepy so you go into full relaxation mode. We went on some beautiful walks and watched the sunset in Mevagissey’s harbour, which was stunning. We took some lovely strolls along the beach and may have even gone for a very cold swim.
If someone were to ask you where your happy and safe place, is where would you say?
