Gili Air Adventures…

To describe the Gili islands in one word it would be paradise! If you are looking for a relaxing beach holiday then the Gili Islands are for you. We were fortunate to travel to Gili Air from Padangbai harbour on a Gili Gili fast boat, which took about two hours. It was such a great experience and we sat on top of the boat so we had the best views of the beautiful sea. It was such an awesome day and the sun was shining so it was a wonderful adventure.

Arriving into Gili air was breath taking, the seas are crystal clear and the sand is so white. It is a lot hotter than Bali is so be prepared!
There are no cars or motorbikes in Gili so it was a little shock to the system and literally a breath of fresh air as there is no air pollution. There is however horse drawn carriages that act as taxis. It is so cruel and the horses look so tired and hot. So to the best of your ability please avoid travelling this way.

I found our accommodation Djamezz Lumbung on Airbnb and it was so cheap, we paid £25 per night for such an awesome little hotel. There were four eco huts set up next to each other with a lovely garden and swimming pool. Everything was kept very clean and our hut had air conditioning, a double bed, a safe, and an outdoor bathroom.

The guys working there were so lovely and chilled out. They made us feel at home as soon as we arrived, and made us feel like part of the family. In the evening they sat around playing the acoustic guitar so the atmosphere was so chilled out and there was such a great vibe.

Things to do

Gili Air is very small so if you are looking for an adventure filled weekend then this may not be the place for you, which is why we only stayed two nights. However it is so much fun to go snorkelling, sunbath, rent bikes and go around the island. The sunsets are incredible and at night you can find lots of chilled bars on the beach with live music and a cold Beer. It is such a romantic island!

Places to eat

There are lots of places to eat and drink with traditional or western food. On the last day we found such a cute Café called Gili Bliss where they served the best and freshest food I believe the island has to offer. The girls working there were so lovely so I highly recommend a visit.

Travelling to Gili Air

We used two different companies:

We managed to book both boats from the port we were leaving from, but it maybe easier to book online and save time also.
