The School System.
Growing up I went to a very academic school in Barcelona. Stats and results were what they focused on the most. I learnt quickly however that I was not an academic. I was and still am a creative.
So, I hated school with a passion. If there was a subject I wasn’t good at like maths, the school would push you to take extra maths lessons.
This is what is wrong with the school system. Children are made to do more of what they are bad at, rather than allowing them to excel in what they are good at and truly enjoy. Why is this so terrible? Because it lowers your self esteem, constantly knowing and being told that you’re not good at something. Being put in the bottom classes rather than everyone just being together.
This is where I found my love for ballet, and my beautiful dance teacher Justine. Some days rather than even going to school I would tell her I had a day off and we would spend hours in the dance studio. It was my happy place.
Do a Job that makes you happy.
This is when I began to think, if money didn’t exist what job would I do?
When people at school were asked what job they wanted to do, or what they would study at university… They would consider what job would make me the most money, rather than what job would truly fulfil me and make me happy.
I love to express myself through art, and I am so fortunate to be able to do exactly what I love. Acting and blogging is not a stable job, but once you realise that you don’t need to be a millionaire. You don’t need a big house or an expensive car. Life is too short and what you need is to be happy.
I love writing and I love creating so to be able to do what I love is the best feeling in the world. Forget what you learnt at school.
Don’t do a dead end job just to pay bills and buy things to impress others. Do a job that empowers you and brings out the best in you.
Be passionate and work hard, because once you have this you can do anything.
